Standing tall on the North Island's west coast, the mighty Mount Taranaki dominates the region's landscape.  Sitting in the middle of 34,000ha of wilderness, this near-perfect cone shaped volcano offers adventurers a unique opportunity to circumnavigate its slopes.

Be guided through some of New Zealand's most spectacular scenery as you hike around the dormant volcano on this four-day adventure.  This trip gives you the opportunity to truly experience the mountain and all it has to offer.

Mount Taranaki is the source of more than 50 rivers and streams, and is a botanically unique area containing a wide variety of vegetation. You will hike through lush rainforests of tall Rimu and twisted Kamahi trees on the mountain's lower slopes, while higher up the volcano sub-alpine shrubs and herb fields are found, along with spectacular views.

Many native birds live here, including Kiwi and the endangered Whio/Blue Duck - one of the world's only white water surfing ducks.

Along the journey our expert guide will share stories and knowledge of this special area, while ensuring that you are cared   and catered for.  Your nights will be spent at remote DOC huts, where you can enjoy dinner as you watch the sun set over the mountain.  Listen out for Kiwi, go looking for glow worms, or simply star gaze in the peace and tranquility.  In the morning, a hearty breakfast will see you ready to start your day's adventure.

Four days on Mt Taranaki is an awesome experience, no matter what the conditions.  You can expect to experience calm, tranquil times, possibly some wild and challenging times, incredible scenery, hopefully some unforgettable moments and   maybe some wet west coast weather!
